About LinuSoft

In July 2004, proprietor Stuart Bailey, began trading under the name LinuSoft, following redundancy as a software developer in the oil industry.

With extensive knowledge of C++ development, and a particular interest in the Linux operating system, LinuSoft started providing specialist services to small companies in Norfolk. The goal was to promote and support the use of Linux in small businesses, and to provide a software development service to companies requiring bespoke software tailored to their business needs. With a background in engineering, firstly in aviation, then in offshore surveying, LinuSoft was well positioned to serve engineering industries.

After securing a software development project for a company in the oil industry, expertise in dynamic positioning and GPS increased. A new found interest in offshore sailing brought with it a knowledge of navigation, which further enhanced the dynamic positioning work.

Linux services steadily grew, providing customers with various Linux installations, including:

The end of 2006 brought a new development project for a customer in the vehicle manufacturing industry, to produce a vehicle testing and data capturing product.

In early 2007, LinuSoft became a limited company, and recruited additional software development staff.

After joining a local BNI (www.bni-europe.com) group in 2008, interest in Linux systems increased, particularly VoIP systems and fileservers.

2008 also brought a new Linux based product for proximity marketing using bluetooth to target mobile phones.

Future Goals and Ambitions

Continue to promote and support the use of Linux in the workplace, by increasing awareness thorough word-of-mouth networking. People just need to know that there are viable - often better - alternatives to traditional proprietary software.

Develop Linux based marine navigation software, to increase the choice and freedom available to the marine industry, particularly the leisure sailor.

Promote the use of proximity marketing with bluetooth advertising and bluetooth marketing.
